Half Battle Won…
(India v/s Australia)

They slogged hard right
from the first match, proving every cricket analysts wrong that they aren’t a
favourite for the 2015 Cricket World cup. Everybody was gambling on the luck
and chances of other foreign countries and on the ways those teams will they
crush the Indian team in a sway. But in between of all the chaos of who will
win the World Cup, He was quietly making a plan!
Mahendra Singh Dhoni
knew that it is going to be tough and bitter. His team had a miserable
tournament in the overseas. First loss came in the test match against Australia
followed by loss in Carlton Mid-ODI Tri-series. The support-staff was now at
rigorous work and it was the Captain’s duty to helm the ship in the right
direction in the middle of sledging Tasmanian seas. It was near to impossible
especially when the Indian TV and Print media slaughter your morals and
pressurize you from day one! But instead of succumbing to the high and low
tides gushing in the sea, Captain MS Dhoni managed to sail the ship close to
the shore. Alas! It was the destined reach in the fate of Indian team.
When Australia put up a
target of 328 runs on board, which consisted of a powerful ton by Steve Smith
and an enriching 81 runs by Aaron Finch it was predicted that India will have
to face the hardship in chasing the target. Till now no team has been able to
chase a score of 300 plus on Sydney Cricket Ground in the world cup made the
astrology predictions strong in the favour of Australia.
But then the Indian
team was surfing fine and strong on the swirling bowling attack by Australians
with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Shrama managing fine. But as soon as the openers
went Virat Kohli who was the keynote player fell trapped to a short-pitched
ball of Mitchell Johnson and the trail of scoring runs began. Suresh Raina,
Ajinkya Rahane tried their best to avail nothing. Then it was one man army
scene! MS Dhoni, he was the only hope for all the Indians when the other end
was losing wickets in a quick run. MS Dhoni gave some flickering hope as he hit
a six and a four in the middle of an over when the run rate had begun to rise. Dhoni’s
65 of 65 balls were crumbled into the bin when he was run out by Glenn Maxwell!
After that it was clear that India’s journey is nearing its end.
As expected
the tail-enders gave up their wickets and India was all out in the 46th
over.
India could score 233
and lost the match by 95 runs. It was a half battle won because, India in this
entire tournament gave their best by winning non-stop seven matches, won
non-stop seven toss, gave non-stop batting as well as bowling spectacular
performances, gave a continuous ray of hope and last but not the least
respected the feelings and emotions of every Indian Cricket fan by winning and
acknowledging the crowd.
The most important
lesson comes from the post-presentation speech by Captain MS Dhoni. He said, “We have been here for over four months.
Thanks to the Indian fans, who were travelling all over from India, England and
all the different place. It’s a bit disappointing for them, but at the same
time when you play a sport, only one team can win.”
This is the reason why
every Indian has a smile to cherish a Captain like MS Dhoni who leads Team
India always with pride and honor. After-all the 2015 World Cup has given Team India a new life!
